Is it the Media’s Fault?

Conflicts in Africa have often been ignored and overlooked for years.  A man named Virgil Hawkins was the author of, Stealth Conflicts; How the World’s Worst Violence is Ignored.   Hawkins’ study on media attention can be summed up in a map he presented representing conflict death tolls between 1990 and 2007.  The map displays Africa with 88% of the conflict death tolls.

The study on western media revealed how and where the media’s attention fell…Africa did not reach even %10 of the coverage.
